Acoustics Noise Vibration staff understand the requirements for Defence facilities and have undertaken a wide range of projects including the design of Top Secret Rooms, and control of aircraft and equipment noise. Staff have Defence Security Clearance and have worked on a range of defence bases including: RAAF Base Amberley, HMAS Albatross Nowra, RAAF Base Townsville, Gallipoli Barracks Enoggera, Victoria Barracks Petrie Terrace, Kokoda Barracks Canungra, Lavarack Barracks Townsville, RAAF Base Darwin, Robertson Barracks Palmerston, Swartz Barracks Oakey Army Aviation Centre.
The Acoustics Goal:
The goal of the acoustic design for defence buildings is to create spaces that comply with the specific functional requirements of the client while maintaining the cost plan. For environmental noise and vibration the goal is to provide a clear and concise assessment of impacts including potential control or mitigation measures. This has included:
reviewing source noise levels and criteria to reduce façade constructions,
design and testing of special constructions for top secret rooms, and
review of 3D modelling of environmental noise to determine impacts on military and civilian receptors.
Key Elements:
Defence projects have included:
heritage buildings,
refurbishment of existing facilities, and
new building projects.
Acoustic work has included:
noise monitoring,
acoustic design,
inspections,
acoustic testing of secret and top secret rooms,
façade design to control military aircraft, road, rail and equipment noise intrusion,
review of noise criteria,
review of modelled aircraft noise levels,
internal acoustic privacy between spaces,
ESD and green star rating requirements,
control of plantroom noise, and
workplace health and safety considerations for hangar and workshop facilities.
Facilities have included:
offices,
training rooms with flight simulators,
secret and top secret rooms,
briefing rooms,
seminar spaces,
music facilities,
video conference rooms,
teaching spaces,
special purposes halls,
hangars with adjacent office and support spaces,

Jo Rotim – Associate Director – Leffler Simes Architects
I am pleased to confirm that my recent experience with Acoustics Noise Vibration Consulting Engineers (“ANV”) was entirely satisfactory. My commissioning ANV’s services related to complex issues of excessive inter-tenancy noise and vibration in a Brisbane CBD building for which I am responsible, although I have no experience in ANV’s field of expertise. I found David Borgeaud’s analysis of the matter to be clear, timely, informative and completely professional. This greatly facilitated my achieving the necessary corrective actions.
Professor John Corbett
I have worked with David Borgeaud over many years and he brings a wealth of experience to the acoustics and vibration discipline. His thorough approach and attention to detail ensures that projects are well considered and thought through. He has a high level of service excellence and quality of work and I would not hesitate in recommending David for projects.
