Acoustics Noise Vibration staff understand the requirements for Defence facilities and have undertaken a wide range of projects including the design of Top Secret Rooms, and control of aircraft and equipment noise. Staff have Defence Security Clearance and have worked on a range of defence bases including: RAAF Base Amberley, HMAS Albatross Nowra, RAAF Base Townsville, Gallipoli Barracks Enoggera, Victoria Barracks Petrie Terrace, Kokoda Barracks Canungra, Lavarack Barracks Townsville, RAAF Base Darwin, Robertson Barracks Palmerston, Swartz Barracks Oakey Army Aviation Centre.

The Acoustics Goal:

The goal of the acoustic design for defence buildings is to create spaces that comply with the specific functional requirements of the client while maintaining the cost plan. For environmental noise and vibration the goal is to provide a clear and concise assessment of impacts including potential control or mitigation measures. This has included:

• reviewing source noise levels and criteria to reduce façade constructions,
• design and testing of special constructions for top secret rooms, and
• review of 3D modelling of environmental noise to determine impacts on military and civilian receptors.
